Dragon Boat Festival
The Dragon Boat Festival originated in ancient times in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River with the dragon as the totem of the Yue people, and every year on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar they held a grand “totem festival” to show their “dragon son” identity. Later, according to their own historical and cultural characteristics, different interpretations of the origins of the Dragon Boat Festival were made in the north and south, such as commemorating Qu Yuan, one of the few historical figures in China to be commemorated by the festival.

Except for superstitious activities have gradually disappeared, the rest has spread throughout China and neighbouring countries. Some activities, such as dragon boat racing, have been developed to break through the boundaries of time and place and have become international sporting events.
