Dragon Boat Festival

The Dragon Boat Festival originated in ancient times in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River with the dragon as the totem of the Yue people, and every year on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar they held a grand “totem festival” to show their “dragon son” identity. Except for superstitious activities have gradually disappeared, the rest has spread throughout China and neighbouring countries. Some activities, such as dragon boat racing, have been developed to break through the boundaries of time and place and have become international sporting events.
